Welcome to Highland Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year!!   My name is Philip West, and it is my honor and privilege to serve as your principal this year!  Highland is a very special place, because of the wonderful scholars who learn here every day, and the incredible staffulty (that is what we call our faculty and staff) who serve here each day to be sure that your students have a wonderful school experience!

We believe in creating a family atmosphere where each and every one of our scholars know that they are loved and safe, and where they also know that they are held to high expectations for their behavior, academic success, responsibility, and citizenship.  Our goal is for every student to make continual progress every day.  We are also committed to taking care of the WHOLE child, and doing everything we can to meet their social and emotional needs as well as their academic needs.  We want every one of our scholars to thrive, and we will do everything in our power to be sure that they do.  This year we will continue to utilize "Character Strong" to help teach our scholars 9 important character traits (Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, Gratitude, and more....) We know that these traits will help our scholars to be successful in school, and in life. We will keep our families posted about which trait we are studying each week, and we encourage everyone to join with us in reinforcing this information.
