"Enriching the lives of Kentucky students through academic competition"
This is what our Academic Team is all about.
Students in third through fifth grades compete on our academic team known as H.E.A.T.. Last year, our team took home overall first place finish in the District Governor's Cup and Runner's Up in Regional Governor's Cup competitions. Our Future Problem Sovling Team was Governor's Cup District and Regional Champions in 2016. Our students and coaches are working hard in hopes of being awarded the top awards again this year!

How does one describe something so indescribable?
The best way to summarize FIRST LEGO League is to say that it is a robotics program for 9 to 14 year olds which is designed to get children excited about science and technology -- and teach them valuable employment and life skills. FLL can be used in a classroom setting but is not solely designed for this purpose. Teams, composed of up to ten children with at least one adult coach, can also be associated with a pre-existing club or organization, homeschooled, or just be a group of friends who wish to do something awesome. This is Highland's first year competing in First Lego League.
The mission of the Highland Green Team is to make our school and community a cleaner, "greener" place to live. These students work very hard to ensure that we do everything we can to take care of our planet.

By Serving Others"
Another fanstic group at Highland is the Junior Beta Club. This club encourages students to become leaders in their school and community through academic acheivement, service, and character.
Our Highland Junior Beta Club won First Place at the 2017 Kentucky State Junior Beta Convention in the Group Talent Competition.
Highland Student Ambassadors
Highland Ambassadors are 4th and 5th grade students who demonstrate leadership and are eager to showcase our school. Ambassadors give tours of the school, sign in visitors, welcome new students and famliles, and serve as the "elves" of our school. Ambassadors can be called on in a moment's notice to be a helping hand. Ambassadors learn the history of the school and share our goals as well as our vision.
